FROM THE WOUNDED TRAVELER TO THE REPAIRER OF THE BREACH ___Thursday (08/13/2026): St. Worships & Gospel Demos with Silicon Valley Neighbors in San Jose

We affirm that the command “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” is not a decorative teaching at the edge of Christian faith. It stands near its very center.

Jesus joined love of neighbor to love of God. James called it the “royal law.” Paul declared that “love worketh no ill to his neighbour.” And in the parable of the Good Samaritan, Christ showed us that neighbor-love is not determined merely by geography, identity, religion, nationality, or social position.
The neighbor is revealed when someone crosses the distance.
The priest saw the wounded man.
The Levite saw the wounded man.
The Samaritan also saw him.
The difference was not eyesight.
The difference was proximity.
One came near.
One touched the wound.
One carried the burden.
One accepted the cost.
One transformed compassion into action.
And Jesus said:
“Go, and do thou likewise.”
—Luke 10:37
This remains the command before us.
